TeleMed2U is proud to welcome Dr. Vivien Bonert, an internationally recognized neuroendocrinologist with more than 35 years of experience in the diagnosis and management of pituitary disorders.
Pituitary disorders are often chronic and complex, requiring specialized expertise for diagnosis, treatment planning, and long-term follow-up. Conditions may include prolactinomas, acromegaly, Cushing’s disease, nonfunctioning pituitary tumors, and hormone deficiencies caused by pituitary dysfunction. Many patients require coordination among endocrinology, neurosurgery, radiology, ophthalmology, and other specialists.
For patients who live far from experienced pituitary programs, access to specialized care can be difficult. Delayed evaluation and fragmented care can prolong the path to diagnosis and treatment, particularly for rare disorders that may require multidisciplinary expertise.
Dr. Stuart Seigel, TeleMed2U’s Director of Endocrinology, has long advocated for expanding access to specialty endocrine care:
“Two out of every three counties in the U.S. has no endocrinologist. For 50 million people, that is not merely an inconvenience—it can mean delayed diagnoses, delayed treatment, and preventable complications. TeleMed2U exists to close that gap by bringing high-quality specialty care within reach of patients everywhere, whether they have commercial insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, or pay directly.”
The ideal model for pituitary care is a coordinated, multidisciplinary program that brings together experienced specialists and creates clear pathways for diagnosis, treatment, referral, and follow-up. Yet many patients, particularly those in rural and underserved communities, do not live near a specialized pituitary center.
TeleMed2U is developing its Virtual Pituitary Center to help address this access gap. Under Dr. Bonert’s leadership, the center will offer virtual-first specialty evaluation and longitudinal care for appropriate patients, while coordinating necessary local testing, imaging, and in-person specialty referrals. The goal is to help patients receive the right expertise at the right time, without requiring unnecessary long-distance travel.
Dr. Bonert brings extensive experience from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she most recently served as Professor of Medicine and Clinical Director of the Cedars-Sinai Pituitary Center. Her clinical work has focused on the care of patients with pituitary disorders and other complex neuroendocrine conditions.
“Many patients with rare pituitary disorders live far from the specialists they need,” Dr. Bonert said. “Our Virtual Pituitary Center is designed to bring expert care directly to patients, wherever they live, through personalized and coordinated care that reduces unnecessary travel while ensuring in-person services are arranged when needed.”
TeleMed2U looks forward to launching the Virtual Pituitary Center this year with Dr. Bonert at the helm. The program will combine her pituitary expertise with TeleMed2U’s virtual-care infrastructure to create a more accessible, coordinated experience for patients with complex pituitary conditions.
